[The face that appears on the screen is not really what you would expect from Wataru's Gear. This is mostly because the face is that of a Pichu instead of a boy, and a very excited looking Pichu at that. Once it's sure the video feed is on, it will begin chattering in Pokélanguage.]

Hi! I'm Katchan and I just hatched and some of my trainer's other Pokémon were talking about this so I pushed some buttons and then it turned on just like they said! And they also said my trainer keeps using it to talk to people so now I am too!

I hope he doesn't mind playing because I really really really want to play but right after I hatched he said he had to go somewhere and now I don't know where he is but I hope he comes back soon! And-

[In the background, there is the sound of a door opening. That alone is enough to make the Pichu turn with a squeak, before practically bouncing away from the Gear.]

There you are, Katchan! I had too many Pokémon before, but now there's enough space for you in my team. Isn't that great?

[When Wataru finally comes into view, the little Pichu is happily perched on his shoulder. Since he's actively looking for his Gear, it doesn't take him very long to find it. Though once he does... his expression changes quite suddenly.]

Huh? How did this get turned on? I know I shut if off before I left.

...

[The feed cuts for a moment as he looks into the Gear's last recorded item. When it comes back, he's pretty clearly exasperated.]

...How did he learn how to get at it so quickly?!

[He raises a hand to pat the Pichu on the head, which just causes it to chitter happily even more.]

Yeah, he hasn't even been hatched for too long. It reminds me a little of Jozo and Meena when they first hatched. I never thought they'd calm down!

...Actually, I don't think Meena ever did.

Yeah, she is. It kinda makes me wish they'd let us have more than six Pokémon with us at a time. That way I wouldn't have to keep going to the Pokémon center to let her out to play.

He just hatched not too long ago... I didn't think Pokémon could learn how to work human technology that fast.

It could be. It just seems so weird... You'd think they wouldn't be too interested in human technology, but a lot of them know how to work it really well.

Yeah! When I played the games, it was like having a really cool pet, but now that I'm here... It's more like having a lot of friends that just can't speak your language.

[It's kind of debatable whether or not he'd call them FRIENDS sometimes, but...] They're still pretty easy to understand, at least. And they seem to understand us. I guess it kinda works out.
