A wave of relief washed over him. Though he had more or less accepted his fate, he couldn't help but be grateful for Johto's timely intrusion into his life. This way, he'd be able to see everyone again before... well. That.

As he struggles to sit up after a week in bed, he can't help but smile weakly. Johto had ended up a little like a bonus stage. Somehow he'd met the requirements to get there again. Now if only he'd done enough to win instead...]

[When Wataru shows up on the feed, he's smiling. But something about the smile is a little... off. Like it's not as bright or happy as it should be.]

I've noticed that these things tend to happen in waves. _{[The disappearances, too... she almost wishes she hadn't noticed the pattern, though. It makes her nervous. Especially now that she's actually lost somebody she was close to.]}
