Hey guys! I finally had a chance to take on the Gym-- I wanted to catch up Katchan first, but I think I overdid it...

Anyway, look at what I've got now!

[He happily holds up a shiny shiny new badge!]

We spent a lot of time here, so I'm thinking of going to Cianwood soon!

[Later; Action for Ecruteak/Video]

[Wataru was switching out his Pokémon for the first time in a while - after all, he hadn't been kidding when he mentioned catching Katchan up to the rest of the team. Which is why he's surprised to see a certain newcomer...]

Wait a minute... isn't this...?

--Sorry to send another message out so quick, but...

Has anyone seen Haseo around recently?
[Action]

[When Wataru awakens, it takes a moment for his blurry eyes to take in his surroundings. This wasn't the Gasala Highlanders' lodgings. No, this was...

A wave of relief washed over him. Though he had more or less accepted his fate, he couldn't help but be grateful for Johto's timely intrusion into his life. This way, he'd be able to see everyone again before... well.
That.

As he struggles to sit up after a week in bed, he can't help but smile weakly. Johto had ended up a little like a bonus stage. Somehow he'd met the requirements to get there again. Now if only he'd done enough to win instead...]

[Later; Video]

[When Wataru shows up on the feed, he's smiling. But something about the smile is a little... off. Like it's not as bright or happy as it should be.]

Hi everyone. This is Wataru. I just wanted to send out a message to say I'm awake now. Sorry if I worried anyone!

[It begins with a Growlithe's nose snuffling up against the lense, only to vanish as a loud "KLAK" sound indicates the Gear has just been bitten. Now in the mouth of said Growlithe, the images move fast and shakily, but people with good eyes might recognize the insides of a room at the Goldenrod inn. In the distance, a certain young boy's voice can be heard.]

Toni? What are you-

...Oh no.

Here boy, don't play with that... just give it to me, okay?

[The voice gets louder as the boy approaches, but the Growlithe isn't having any of that. The images blur even more as it begins dashing around the room, only to stop and begin shaking violently as a hand grabs it, obscuring half the lens.]

Just... give... it... ba-

-ack! You're going to break i-

hjjjjkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

[After that, the messages stop. It's not until a little later that a proper message gets out, albeit from a screen that is slightly blurred with moisture.]

Oh geeze... Hey, can anyone see this? Or hear it, or... anything. My Growlithe got a hold of my Gear, and some messages got sent out while I was getting it back. I hope it's not busted...
Hey, is it just me, or are there a lot more people around than before? It sounds like people have been getting warped around all over again, too.

Kisa, Artemis, Ritsu, Savyna! Are you all okay? I was gonna go out and train, but maybe that's not such a good idea right now.
[Wataru walks out of the Azalea gym with Kee Keema by his side, fiddling with his Pokégear. His message is pretty straightforwards and quick to send.]

Two down, six to go!
[Well, this is somewhat familiar. Wataru is yet again walking out of a building, except this time it's the Violet City Gym instead of the Pokécenter.

Also, he is grinning from ear to ear. Getting your very first badge can do that. Similarly, his Croconaw is marching by his side, looking rather pleased with himself.

There is also no way this sudden challenge was taken up just because his fellow travelers both got their badges on their first tries before him nope.]

It looks like we really did just need to train a bit more to beat him this time! It wasn't easy, but... We still won!

[Despite his happiness at winning, a thought occurs to him and it fades a little.]

Though... has anyone else noticed that the gym leader was awful strong for the first boss? When I played the games in my world, the first gym leader was way easier than that.
[Wataru's heading out of the Pokémon center with his trusty Croconaw of a partner by his side. The boy looks glum, and his partner looks about as uncomfortable as a Pokémon can be. Guess who just got narrowly defeated by a certain Violet City gym leader?]

It's okay, Kee Keema. We almost did it! If we train a little more, I'm sure we'll be able to beat him this time...

[...Though it doesn't change the fact that they lost. Sigh. Can has cheering up?]
